The Thomas Young Centre (TYC) is a world leading centre for the theory and simulation of materials whose members are formed from around 80 interdisciplinary research groups from UCL, Imperial College, King’s College and QMUL - www.thomasyoungcentre.org.

This FREE event is designed to showcase TYC’s world-leading expertise at the cutting edge of materials modelling and related computational research and provide a forum for end users and innovators to network with potential collaborators and customers. The meeting will include a brief introduction to the current state of materials modelling, and include expert talks (including those from external speakers and industry) and posters describing how materials modelling has and can benefit industry  

There will also be informal time for posters and networking over lunch and in the early afternoon. The event is aimed at industry who may be seeking to access the research base in the area of computational materials science for collaborative R&D and commercial opportunities. Industry speaker slots will be available too.

This event will be relevant to small / large companies and researchers aiming to:

•    Innovate in the area of computational modelling and to engage end users

•    Discover and screen new candidate materials for a range of applications

•    Collaborate on academic and commercial R&D projects

•    Source cutting edge technologies and opportunities

•    Join or build consortia to access funding (EU and other routes)

•    Learn about recent developments and take part in future TYC activities

This event is funded under the UCL 2011 Knowledge Transfer Champions Scheme (MAPS faculty) which is administered by UCL Enterprise (headed by Prof S. Caddick)
